Fergus Ewing and the Holyrood Govt have the power but apparently not the political will or nous to get to grips with this situation. Is there a hidden reason or agenda there? Or incompetence? A decision not to decide a matter is in itself a decision!
Commission and Governmrnt induced obstacles are the last things needed.
Time for those in power to see sense and use power sensibly.
Let us hope that 2017 will produce better outcomes for the drifting communities.

    Greetings and prosperity to crofters.

Upper Coll prosperity chart for 2016.

    Wasted man hours £20,000
    Forced fund disposal 53,000
    Income losses 2016/17 12000
    Other direct costs 8000
    Wasted audit 1200
Loss of vat status etc etc

If you would like your township to develop this model of the new prosperity, just call the Crofting Commission, who will be more than happy to share their wisdom over a cup of tea.

    Scot gov.(crofting support) prosperity chart.

    Administration costs 2016 £480,000
    Commission wasted hours 800.000
    Cost of review 400,000
    Etc etc

If any govt. dept. would like to spend time and money putting out fires, just phone Colin Commission for advice. He has a lot of it.

In the style of Spike M.

There once was a damsel Catriona by name
who led the Great Glen Co and sought for it fame
she exited stage left as the baron came in
    and now it doesn’t rhyme.

There once was a farmer, a crofter his claim
who led the Great Glen Co and brought on it shame
He exited stage left—-oh— wait, he’s still there
    more’s the pity.

I would not say the present government were incompetent, not by any manner of means..they are just like so many others just burying their heads in the sand, hoping and possibly praying that Colin Kennedy will just fade away,
Of course, we know different don’t we.. their crofting convener is the true version of the bad penny..always hovering somewhere,
the only answer to this chaos is to sack the convener along with his followers and re-elect a new board..& VET each and every one them,
It is all very well to say the the crofters would like someone from a crofting background, someone who knows the traditions and the law surrounding, well Kennedy was born into crofting the only problem is with Kennedy is that he rewrites the law to suit his purpose,
Failing seems to be a way of life for the convener, he’s use to it or ought to be by now..I am nearly sure that he will have a list somewhere where he keeps unacceptable words, failing or failure being one of them..unacceptable..therefore, does not exist.

The government has said it wants the Crofting commission to refocus on crofting matters..this cannot happen as long as the present convener is in place..his followers are most likely as confused as he is with regard to what exactly is required of them.
Simply, they must go before the next elections can take place..in my non crofting humble opinion.
